Video settings for the D800? Filters?
1

hi guys. i'm new to dslr video and would like to ask a couple questions. first, i've found a guide that talks about filming with the D800 (http://photo.vanderkolk.info/photo-article-nikon-d800-video-tricks.php), but still have a few questions.

does the shutter speed have to be exactly what he describes here (http://photo.vanderkolk.info/photo-nikon-d800-flicker-banding.php) or can i go up as high as the shutter speed can go on a D800? basically, whats the proper shutter speed for best results (if there even is one)?

as for ND filters, i've read numerous articles talking about using ND filters (which i don't have yet) and was wondering if they're really needed, especially if i can increase the shutter speed?

another question i have is about the fps choice. again, according to the guide i should use 30fps in north america. however, the D800 also has a choice for 50 and 60fps. i'm planning on using some slow motion scenes in the video that i'll be shooting, so those would be much better choice for slow-mo, but those are only available in 720p mode and not 1080p. how would i go about incorporating those into the video if i'm planning on shooting the whole thing in 1080p? would i just shoot the whole thing in 720p then?

thanks for all the contribution.
