Dead pixels on 1000D

Hi, thanks for the reply, I did what the video said and now have no visible dead/stuck pixels on my images!

The odd thing was, I had to do it twice before it worked. After the first time, the old red dots all disappeared, but a new much larger red dot appeared in a new location. You could see this clearly when zoomed right out, never mind 100%.

So I tried again and now a 40th-second shot taken RAW with the lens cap on is completely black all over when opened at 100% in DPP.

If this is masking dead pixels rather than repairing them, I wonder if it's possible to find out how many dead pixels there really are on an old or heavily used camera? You may have loads but never be aware of it.
