Re: You will love the 100-400L!

I have used two different copies of the 100-400L and two copies of the 400 f/5.6L on my 7D. One of the 100-400 lenses was quite good, even at 400 mm and f/5.6; the other wasn't, although it was decent below 300 mm and at all focal lengths at f/9 or so. The two copies of the 400 f/5.6L were superbly sharp even at f/5.6 and focused quite noticeably faster than the 100-400 lenses. People have been trashing your 75-300 lens and indeed I've heard nothing good about that lens, so kudos to you for your images with it. The 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS really is a nice lens. It's not a subsitute for the 100-400 by any means but it's so much lighter and smaller that there will be times when you prefer it. It's surprisingly good optically, especially if you stop it down a bit at the long end.

The 55 - 250, would that make a decent landscape lens? How about a general walk around lens or what would be a good focal range for general shooting, such as say maybe a parade or just walking around a park and taking pictures of the sites, such as flowers, statues, etc..
