why micro focus adjustment ?

This is logical...

It'a at the long end of any zoom lens where the DOF is shallowest, so this is logically the best place to do the MA. The increased DOF should handle any slight problems at the short end. Some of my lenses I've done with both a target at an angle at close range and a fine piece of detail at a couple hundred feet away. The resulting MA was very similar - within maybe 2-3 units, which is negligable. 5 units, however, is a noticable amount and 10 is pretty severe. I have three lenses adjusted by as much as 7 units - in both directions, including my 70-400G at -7, and only one below 5 (my Sony 18-250, believe it or not was really not off at all at +2)
