Re: Should I return my D7000 for a D7100?

In my opinion the biggest difference between the D7000 and the D7100 is the improved autofocus capability. I've owned the D7000 and found it to be a fantastic camera - a huge step up from the D80. But, I always had trouble using the autofocus for sports. I'd get about a 50% success rate. I also own a D700 and the autofocus in that camera is miraculous. I'd generally get a 90-95% success rate. So, if you shoot sports (especially indoor sports with wide apertures), I'd hold out for the D7100 which seems to use the same autofocus mechanism as the D700 (and D800). If all you shoot are portraits or landscapes then the D7000 is more than fine. Btw - I consider shooting young kids as difficult as shooting sports and the fast/accurate focus will help there, too.
