The waiting lines will be the longest ever for a Nikon, even worse than that for the D700 or D800. I bet on that. If it comes.

Depends on production...........but.........

Nope, not even close.

D300 market -

Subtract those satisfied by D600 (or 800)

Subtract those satisfied by D7100

Remainder is ???? Not by any shot Nikon's largest market, easy to argue it's their smallest. We have what one, two features not covered at this point,

Based on what? If we look at camera usage numbers from Flickr, in spite of it's age and all the newer cameras the D300/300s (combined) is still in the top 5 most active Nikon cameras every day. The D800 isn't in the top 10, D600 is 15th with less than 1/5th as many daily users. Clearly there are a lot of people still using their D300/300s - more than there are D800 and 600 combined. Not all of them are waiting for a real D400 upgrade, but many surely are.

Those same numbers show 83% of DSLR shooters are using DX, that's pretty close to what most people say the market split is between FX and DX.

Flickr users clearly don't represent all Nikon shooters, but the large sample size should reflect general use trends. Do you know of any other stats that show market size or use?

Not what I read  here , link to flickr shows D90 top with D7000 second in uoloads in last month and D700, D3100 and D5100 bobbing around in the next three places.
