My Canon EOS 60D slows down after about 20 frames on RAW.

I got a Sandisk Extreme Pro rated 90Mb/s and it is still the same.

The dealer claims the problem is with my EOS 60D. Can that be true?

Your 60D is rated for 16 continuous RAW pictures.

The very fast card you are using is giving you the extra 4.

There is nothing wrong with your 60D, the only thing wrong is your understanding, or expectations.

And apparently your dealer's understanding as well :-(

A camera like the 7D does not write to the card at the same time as it is registering RAW images, som it could be that the 60D doesn't do that either. But the number of images you can take also depends upon their content, since the compression result is dependent on the content.

Yeah, he should shoot smaller raw or just Fine jpeg. With jpeg he could blast away. :-)

Don't you just love it when the dealers are clueless about the products they sell.

The problem which isn't a problem after all is your cameras buffer is filling up. Like the other say sraw or jpeg is the only way to resolve that non problem.

Youbetcha! The fault is not in the card, but in the chip and buffer. MOST cameras will have a limited number of RAW files that can be shot at top fps speed (until the buffer is full), and then will take RAWs at a much reduced fps. The 60D has approx 4 to 5 fps RAW, and when the buffer is full (I get approximately 15 shots) it will take RAW photos at one every 1.5 to 2 seconds. Of course the JPG can be shot at top rate for a loooong time.
