It pretty much defeats the purpose of building a compact camera when you need to carry around three of them.

Perhaps you've heard of the Fuji X100, Leica X2, and Sony RX1. Are owners of those cameras claiming they need another focal length? They don't even have any option besides an adapter or digital zoom.

  • $600 for the Olympus E-PL5, body only
  • $200 for the Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 lens.....(28mm equivalent)
  • $500 for the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 lens.......(35mm equivalent)
  • $500 for the Panasonic 25mm f1.4 lens......(50mm equivalent)
  • $400 for the Olympus 45mm f/1.8 lens.......(90mm equivalent)

f/2.5 on m4/3 is f/3.8 on APS-C and f/1.8 on m4/3 is about f/2.7 on APS-C. Only the f/1.4 lens on m4/3 has any real advantage over an f/2.8 lens on APS-C.
