Forget about the Canon, look to Nikon

I envy all my colleagues who have the Canon 24-105mm/f4. That would make the perfect walkaround lens for FF... such as the A99.

Nikon's 24-120 mm may not have fixed maximum aperture, but the added 15 mm more than make up for that.

I have the old Minolta 24-105, which is not bad - but I think (and Canon proves this) - it can be done better. A high quality 24-105 Carl Zeiss lens, what about that?

That old Minolta is no marvel. I bought it with my Dynax 7D, but when I later bought the 16-80 mm and compared the two on the A700 - well, there was no comparison.

I believe Canon's lens is closer to the Zeiss than to the Minolta, so an "upscaled" Zeiss would be good for Sony. Sigma "downscaled" their full frame 12-24 mm to APS-C and 8-16 mm.

Sony, please listen. Who else wants a CZ 24-105?

I do ... when I buy a Nikon D800 or whatever, but it'll be 24-120 mm
