Falling asleep in Remote Control setting (D7000)

One thing drives me nuts in D7000 (actually, compared to D300, much drives me nuts, except for superior sensor), but I would like to ask about this specific aspect:

When I switch the drive mode into remote control and use the ML-L3, I noticed that camera goes into standby mode at some time, which I cannot quite identify. I had to stand up, walk to the camera and tap on the shutter button to "wake" it, and than we could make images using the ML-L3.

Do I miss anything in the setup? Can I prevent that, but still preserve the standby time interval for normal shooting.

Thomas
