Not as limiting as a pre-packaged unit

You end up with very few display chooses and the same goes for video, RAM ect. I don't see why you wouldn't choose from the existing all in one offerings from Dell or others.

Personally, I hated tossing out my gorgeous 24" monitors when my iMacs ran out of juice and no upgrade path at work. At home, I usually carry my monitors through several pc upgrades, so all in ones are not efficient for me.

You answered your own question about why you wouldn't choose an existing offering from Dell, etc. with your statement about having to toss the whole thing.

It seems that the Do It Yourself All-In-One partially solves the issue of having to throw out the whole thing when it "runs out of juice", since you should be able to replace the old CPU, motherboard, RAM, and/or hard drive in these when new, more powerful, higher capacity ones of each come out.
