Hi all,

Just to be clear, the AF system in the D7100 is from the D300s and not from the D4 as stated in numerous posts. But even Nikon is confused what they actually put in the camera:

From the link above: "Advanced Multi-CAM 3500DX", "supported by an algorithm equivalent to that of the D4"

http://www.nikonusa.com/en/Nikon-Products/Product/Digital-SLR-Cameras/1513/D7100.html

From the link above: "Building on the acclaimed autofocus system from the D300s". From the tech specs section: "Nikon Multi-CAM 3500DX autofocus sensor module with TTL phase detection". Note the missing "Advanced" opposed to the first link.

So, which is it Nikon?

I don't see any discrepancy.  "With the newly developed advanced multicam 3500DX", "bulding on" aren't in conflict.  It is however product marketing meant to entice folks with reference to the d300 and D4.  I don't get that they've taken either the d300 or D4 autofocus  system and dropped it into the D7100.
