What about indoor flash-less shooting

With the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 very often you can get decent shots indoors without having to flash. This keeps photos more natural looking. I highly recommend getting a fast lens for indoor scenarios. If nothing else, get the Min 50/1.7 which are a dime a dozen. It's really neat having natural looking photos. You won't regret having those once the kids are grown up and looking at "old" photos. Also, make *backups*. Lots of backups.
