Manually focusing a 50mm f1.4 or f1.2 on a D700

My apologies for repeating my question; I had posted it on a DX forum...

Dropped and killed my 50mm f/1.4 AF-D and want to replace it with a better copy.... The Nikkor 50mm f1.2 and the Nokton 58mm f/1.4 seem to be good candidate...

In your experience, how would you describe your experiences in manually focusing either the Nokton 58mm f1.4 or 50mm f1.2 Nikkor on your D700?

I am a street shooter - easy / quick focusing is appreciated...

Do you find that an aftermarket focusing screen is essential with this combination?

your experiences are appreciated...
