Any suggestions?

If possible I'd like to convert to fisheye to shoot panoramas with it. Like 8-10mm, but it has to be very sharp.

I have an Opteka 0.3x HD2 58mm lens I may try. I need to get a 52mm to 58mm stepup ring for it though.

Why would you use a fisheye to shoot panoramas?

Only a few shots and you have 360. The fewer shots the better. The software handles fisheye images very well.

My fisheye would have way to much barrel distortion for this use. The Panasonic 0.7x lens works quite well tho but I wouldn't zoom with it on. I only use it at full wide.

Panaroma software de-warps fisheye images well. I use Autopano software from Kolor.

I thnk you wil get much better images using the lens as is. I tried holding the lens up to the front of the camera and the FZ200 will not focus with the 0.3x lens. Its soft across the entire range and the green focus OK stays red. I tried the Panny 0.75 lens and its better but still a tad soft on the extreme edges.

I just ordered the aftermarket tube for my LX7 and a 52mm to 58mm step up ring for my 0.3x lens. Will try both lenses on my LX7. It may yield a sharper image right to the edge. It may vignette though. Especially the Panny 52mm 0.75x lens. The 58mm fisheye might work. Stay tuned! Will be a week or so before I get everything.

Thanks a lot for your input. I'll wait for your trial on both cameras.

I'm bidding for two lenses on Ebay: Opteka $50 .30x and Opteka .43 37mm

Finally got my LX7 tube! The 0.3x lens vignettes and isn't sharp on either camera However the Panasonic DMW-LWA52 works great on the LX7. The LX7 is my new wide angle shooter for sure! The 0.75 lens also works well on the FZ200 but I have to be careful with that setup so best to just use it on my LX7.

Yes, but it's about $170 for LWA52.

Thank you for your reply.

I think I paid around $140 for mine. Don't go super wide...the 0.75 gives you 18mm and it looks real sharp right to the edges on the LX7. Its a tad soft on the FZ200 at f2.8. The LX7 feels nice in your hands with the Panasonic lens mounted to the tube.

Have you tried it on LX5?

I never owned the LX5...i came from a small canon point and shoot SD800. Gave up SLR cameras in 2001 with my first digital camera. I started with my first Panasonic camera or camcorder almost 2 years ago and love it. Came from a Sony DVCAM. Then started getting the bug to buy a dslr but decided I didn't want to deal with the lenses like I did in the 80's and 90's. So I went with the FZ200 super zoom. Good enough for me! But then my old canon point and shoot could be better indoors in low light and I still like a smaller camera for indoors like weddings and museums so picked up the LX7 after seeing some of the pictures posted here taken in museums and at night with the LX7. Then the $289 deal! Wow! Very happy with that purchase too...if I bought the LX7 first I probably would not have bought the FZ200 but I am happy I have both. With the wide lens and an OLY B-300 I can shoot 18mm to 1020mm all optical zoom. Plus in the Fstop range of F1.4 to F2.8. That is pretty sweet for only about $1k give or take a few.

The LWA52 is designed for the LX5 and works very well indeed. I keep mine on the older of my two LX5s.

Will work on LX7?

Did you try the 0.3x mentioned here? What were the results?

I have had amazing success now with the distortion- and blur-free 0.8x from the wonderful (!) Konica-Minolta ACW-100 on the KIWI LA-52LX7 adapter tube. Now, I would really like to experiment with a GOOD ultra-wide with as little issues as possible.

In another thread, I shared images from brands called Massa and Mercury (both 0.45x) with very yucky results in terms of blurriness everywhere but the center. Is there ANYTHING in the 0.3 to 0.5 range that actually gives a fairly decent result in edge-to-edge clarity on the LX7?

What are your experiences?
