What you really should do is use each credit card you have at least twice per year. Pick 2 months when you are not busy, March & September, for example. Make a point to use your rarely used cards at least once during those months. (Buy a gallon of gas, etc.) Make sure you pay-it-off on time. Again, this is assuming they do not carry an annual fee.

As for expiration dates on the cards, about 2 weeks before a card expires, a new one with the same number, but a later expiration date will arrive in the mail. You will need to call a special 1-800 number that will be printed on a sticker on the card. Then it is valid for another few years.
