Do you non professionals still use DSLR's? And why?

Yes because...

I use a DSLR for magazine work but will often take it with me out of work situations in a holster bag with a broad shoulder strap with just it's 18-135 lens and a spare battery.  The results are just so much better in terms of dynamic range and lower digitial noise at high ISO.

I must admit I am sorely tempted by the new Canon SX50 which is producing bird pictures that are, in good light, almost as good as can be obtained from a lens costing 5 times as much!   The thing is... that camera would still have to go in a holster bag.

My Xperia phone cam gets used at other times, but you have to work hard helping it in difficult light and not letting the ISO go too high.
