There's more to camera than potential image quality (i.e. sensor size and processing). There's handling, autofocus speed, a viewfinder that does not jitter or streak when moving the camera. For some people a mirrorless camera is fine but for me it would be nearly useless to capture action shots that a DSLR can do much more easily.

I personally don't get the worry about having a smaller lighter camera. Okay, the big pro DSLR's are heavy, they are also extremely capable. My Canon Rebel is not all that big and heavy and it causes me no problems where I wish it was smaller and lighter. I'm quite satisfied with the size, and the control layout.

Tons of non professionals use DSLR's because we are not all shooting sunsets, landscapes, and slow-moving or static scenes. There are just some things that a DSLR is good at, which a mirrorless camera is not.
