As for the sensor, demosaicing the new pattern seems to yield less resolution than what is gained by removing the AA filter, so on balance the jury is still out on how effective the tack taken by Fuji is. I commend them on their innovative bent and hope they can solve this issue. But today, comparing X-Trans Raw files to their APS-C competitors in the same lighting conditions is not particularly flattering to the Fuji.

Correct, as usual.  It's not even close.

I see no particular wonderfulness to any of the Fuji jgs that people tend to rave about.  The D5200 completely blows away the Fuji SOOC, as does the D3200:
