Yes it is VC version

issues - it seems, that VC to blurs images at exposures of 1/20-1/40 sec.

The thing is, I can't get sharp image of my son/wife at home. (iso 1600, f/2.8, 1/30 sec, tungsten light). It is either AF-motor of Tammy or its VC.
Here is my post on that: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/50848603
But I have to make more testing before blaming Tamron and sending the lens to the service center.
Outside, if exposures are 1/125 or shorter, the lens is razor-sharp till the very corners even at f/2.8.

Concerning metering - 7D is newer model than 5Dmk2. Probably metering finally got some improvements.
