The current equivalent of the 1228 tripod is a GT2541 Mountaineer tripod.

And one difference between the 1228 original and the Mark2 are the screws that connect the legs to the base: in the original version they were made of aluminum, in the Mark2 - of steel. O I would opt for the latter version cause the aluminum screws can break if the tripod is used frequently.
