The Canon Faithful style versus the Dcraw or Adobe color matrix

I found a photo in my recent archives where i did no post processing except to accept the Digital Rebel exposure and white balance, then applying strict sRGB gamma, the DCRaw color matrix (reputed to be close if not identical to the Adobe matrix), and absolute colorimetric intent.

So now I reprocess the photo by substituting the Canon Faithful ICC file and the default gamma.

I suppose that I prefer the Adobe look. Is this a fair comparison?

(I have also recently compared Kodak Ektar 100 color with Portra 160 color; the differences are striking but I do not have a strong preference there.)

The DCRaw or Adobe style

The Canon Faithful style.
