Try a geared head

I have a gimble head and mounting and using a shorter lens on it using the camera body would certainly be a challenge to use. You might try lookinh at the Manfrotto 410 junior geared head , you can quickly change settings with the course knob and then fine tune with the fine knobs, with none of the drooping found on ball heads http://www.manfrotto.co.uk/410-junior-geared-head http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94COapkXpxw
