Re: Samsung NX 1000 - Lens/ adapters?

Sounds like you have big plans! The Samsung pancakes are a great option for making your NX a compact low light camera. I have the 30mm and love it, and it fits nicely into a variety of jacket/pants pockets.

I recently got an adapter and started picking up legacy lenses. I have 5 at the moment, and have spent a total of about $120. I've been getting Minolta MC/MD lenses, as they have a variety of focal lengths/apertures available at a reasonable price. I love the 50mm f/1.4 and the 58mm f/1.4. The 135mm f/2.8 has promise, but I haven't had much chance to use it yet.

The reason they're so affordable compared to NX lenses: They're old, and not many folks shoot film anymore. Fact is, they're high quality glass that commanded high prices when new, that was just 30-40 years ago... NX lenses have auto focus, and a variety of other fancy electronic stuff going on behind the scenes.

Legacy lenses will never be as compact as NX pancakes. I recently got a 45mm f/2 lens that is no bigger than the 30mm pancake, but once you add the length of the adapter, it's probably the4 same size as the new NX 45mm f/1.8. But it was only $20...

30mm pancake is about the same size as, and the same equivalent focal length (Once you apply the 1.5 crop factor...) as, the 45mm on the Minolta 35mm camera.

When mounted on the NX, it's still relatively compact, and pocketable.  It's also very light.
