Re: Is sony forced to use their own sensors?

I think some of the best sensors in the FF world right now belong to Sony when you see the ISO performance of the Nikon D600 and RX1. The 16 MP sensor of the NEX 5N (and some SLTs) was also at the top of its class when it was new. The rumor today is that the NEX 7 replacement will have an all new sensor (probably an A77 replacement as well) so I expect it to be very good. Canon relies on their own sensors and they aren't as good as the Sony sensors. Nikon seems to have given up on good sensors. Sony is doing just swell with their own sensors, but they aren't required to use their own sensors. But if you make them and you make them well, then of course you're going to use them.
