Thanks for your reply. I was looking at a desktop background this week and it had this white rowing boat on a colourful lake at sunset.Not sure if there was an artificial light showing up the boat or not but it was a stunning shot. No matter how hard I try to lift the shadows there is just no colour in the boat.I can only assume a much longer exposure was needed.The drawback Ive found even on calm seas is that the waves do slightly move the boat and it looks a little blurred. On a lake you may not get the waves and thats why the white boat scene looked so good. Next time we go Ill experiment a little more.
