Lens for fashion/portrait photography / upgrade path?

I have a T2i/550D and currently own:

  • Canon 18-55mm
  • Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 II
  • Canon 50mm f/1.8 II
  • (soon) Sigma 30mm f/1.4

I've ordered the Sigma because the 50mm is too long for me to shoot indoors comfortably on my crop body, but to afford the lens it looks like I'm going to have to sell off the 50mm (I'm a broke college student). But now I'm not sure I have a balanced loadout.

I've been pulled into fashion photography lately and I've been using the 50mm as a portrait lens (as it basically becomes 80mm).

What do you think of the effectiveness of using the 75-300mm for this purpose? I've never used it much, so I don't know what to think of its depth of field/bokeh, but the idea of a lens that gets to f/4 at its widest is a bit concerning to me.

I'll the 30mm as a replacement for now, but I'm concerned about perspective distortion.

Or maybe there's a lens I should look at in the future. What do you all think?
