1st of all it would be a f/4.0 lens and not f/5.6 ...

I'm talking about adding a 1.4x to the lens with it's built-in TC.

A 70-200/2.8 with built-in 1.5x:  engaging it makes the lens 100-300 f/4.2, not f/4.  Tack on an external 1.4x and it'd be f/5.9 or f/6 and would not AF on most EOS bodies.  So, the built-in extender should be 1.4x.
