Short battery life is an absolute killer for a tablet. It's one reason cheap tablets can be useless.

I think that the Surface Pro is better than the average laptop since it has a high-res IPS screen.

Neither tablets nor laptops are ergonomic for editing unless connected to mice, keyboards and external monitors, which the surface pro can be connected to too.

The limitations of the Surface Pro that I can see are storage space and to a lesser extent battery life. The horsepower is more than adequate for photo editing.
