Difficult to compare a zoom lens which is a bit on a slow side, to a fixed fast lens...

The viewfinder on the X100 is great.
Personally i have sold the G1X to get the X100. And i'm now selling the X100 to get the more reactive X100s.
The only aspect that made me "regret" the G1X is the "Movie Clip" which i found added quite a bit to my travel pictures. Having a small sequence of sound and a little movement gave a better feel to my photo "reportage".

The X100 is ideal as a travel camera and the color rendition is for me superior to the G1X. I use it on par with my EOS 1Dx and 5DIII.

Don't look back

Furthermore, that "vintage look" often helps to get the shot. I have read of cases where people pushing people aside so that the photographer "would not waste film"
