How does the Sony 16-50 f2.8 compare IQ wise to the Sony 35 f1.8?

Also how does the Tamron 17-50 compare? I will not use it for video as my RX100 has become my video camera of choice so AF noise isn't important. Build quality of the 35 is good enough for me so that's not an issue. Weather sealing is of no importance. The 35 has outstanding IQ but I would like a fast zoom lens for more indoor versatility. I am afraid however if the zoom sacrifices too much as far as IQ it will be wasted money. Given all that should I buy the Tamron, Sony or just stick with the 35.

I have not used the Tamron. I have used the 35 a lot for videos, the images are sharp and IQ really good possibly sharper than the 16-50 But... Obviously there is the AF sound, sort of a scratching on a drum sound through the internal mic. I also snatches in to the focusing, jumping into focus rather than gliding into focus, so they are your trimming points. If you are making films with music over the top, using external audio or shooting subjects in a fixed position or focus point the 35mm produces great IQ. The 50mm not quite as sharp but again sharper than the 16-50mm
