12-50mm and 40-150mm may be a better compromise

I went through this thread so far to see if there was some type of concensus. It is difficult though the variety seems to be 12-50mm or 12-60mm (f2.8 or f2.8-f4) and 50-150 or 50-200 (f2.8 or 2.8-f4).

Since I have just during the last year+ gotten into u43rds I can't directly relate to the popular 2 zooms of th 43rds line (12-60 and 50-200) though going through this thread gives me the strongest feeling that it will be:

12-50 f2.8-f4 and 50-200mm f2.8-f4

this popular thread has declared it;

to remake the popular 43rds zooms in u43rds. It seems to me and this thread that 12-50 would be optimum more so than 12-60 but I could go with what Oly does. It seems they were able to do 4X fast zooms very well in 43rds (as opposed to the conventioinal wisdom of using 3X).

The problem with a 50-200mm f2.8-f4 would be that it would need to be almost as big and heavy as the classic 4/3 50-200mm f2.8-f3.5 (almost 1kg of weight). There simply is no weight or size advantage for m4/3 regarding long lenses, as compared to classic 4/3. That's why many m4/3 users seem to favour a focal length range that ends at 150mm.

A high quality 12-50 f2.8-f4, OTOH, makes a lot of sense. That may indeed be the best compromise for a high quality standard zoom, regarding focal length range and quality, as well as size, weight, and cost. And it would be sufficiently different from the Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 also.
