Thanks Tom, I've been shooting BIFs for over 8 years now so I guess that helps (I also shoot Bees in Flight for light relief  )

With my canon kit with constant manual focus before and now with the EM-5 + 75-300 I usually shoot using SAF + MF style using the manual focus ring to fine tune the focus in flight so I guess the techniques are pretty similar with the Tamron (just larger focus ring movement to get used to)

For these images I was using ISO44 to 800, my normal range to keep the shutter speed up. Ideally I prefer to be in the 1/1600 sec + range for BIF work

I find the most difficult thing with the 500mm lens is getting the bird in the frame to start with
