Sorry, but this statement doesn't make much sense at all. I own several long screw-driven lenses and have tried out several HSM/SSM/USD lenses, and my experience is quite the opposite. While the later ar not necessarily quicker in AF-speed, they normally track with smaller increments, which gives a higher AF-precision when tracking.
