In your first post you referred to children performing on stage.  That's quite different from the photo you posted.  The light from the flash will fall off very quickly.  I can't remember exactly but I think the range of the flash on the 60D is only about 12 or 13 meters; okay for still life, not okay for people on a stage unless they're at the front of the stage and you're in the first row.
