I read up on the Lexar card and while it has a read speed of 90MB/s, its write speed is only 10MB/s!

Class 10 I would guess?  Class 10 cards only have to sustain a 10 MB/s read and write (minimum).

I have noticed big differences between my Sandisk cards and some generic class 10 cards.  Obviously some are going to be fine, and others not, but Sandisk has been good to me so I went back to using them.  They aren't that much more expensive, just be sure you buy retail packaged ones from a legitimate supplier as they are often faked from what I understand.

Considering I only buy 2 memory cards every few years I don't see it as a big expense.  I tend to buy 2 whenever a new camera comes out of the 2nd largest capacity available as they are cheaper than the highest capacity cards usually
