Re: D4x boondoggle

Why would a self-employed professional photog presumably a succesful business person or someone trying to be a successful business person buy a tool that costs $3000 more than an existing one that accomplishes hardly anything more?

Answer: few if any.

Most professionals will "make due" with the "non-professional" D800E if the rumor becomes a reality like they did with the 5D mkII vs. the 1Ds mkIII.

So, I think a D4x (or whatever it shall be called) has got to have way more than 36 MPs to be taken seriously by enough people to make it profitable.

Rick Knepper, photographer, non-professional, shooting for pleasure, check my profile for gear list and philosophy.

Maybe 6fps in FF and 10fps in DX? That would make some pro DX lovers take a look at it. But I agree, this will sell likely a few hundred K over its lifetime, a D800 body + the D600's sensor at 7-8 fps would sell a lot at 3,000USD. Nikon seems obssessed with the high profile pro folks these days, not a bad thing. It probably means updates of the f/2.8 zooms are coming, including the 17-35mm, which for many purposes is better than the 14-24.
