Re: Wide angles? What's the deal?

I have been spending some time looking at wide zooms (for my full frame camera) and ended up choosing the 17-40.

My take on it: sure, not quite as fast or as wide as the 16-35 2.8, but quite a bit cheaper, also smaller/lighter. The price has come down tremendously, I got mine for $699 new at B and H.

I have seen hundreds and hundreds of stunning images captured with it, and reviewers have found that if you don't need the extra stop, it performs very well compared to the 16-35.

I agree that if you plan to end up on a full frame that it makes sense to buy EF lenses to avoid the hassle of selling your EF-s lenses when the time comes. (I dealt with that hassle when I sold my 350-D).
