It seems to be the way with any manufacturer's own stores except for one, Apple. Their stores thrive. And do you know why? Because you don't get any discounting on their products. Whether you buy from an online store or from an Apple Store, you'll pay the same price give or take £10. One interesting thing though, I was recently looking to buy a Thunderbolt hard drive (not Apple made) for my Mac system and the Apple Store was way cheaper than any of the online offerings.
