Re: Canon 6D anyone using flashguns.

If you want a flash just to add a little fill light to someone's face or catchlights in their eyes in an outdoor scene that is already well lit, the 430EX will be great. Add an off camera TTL cord and you can use it a little more as a main light in some night situations (you don't want the main light to be coming from right over your lens, it causes ugly shadows.)

For studio type portraiture you'll want the flash off camera and you may want 2 or 3. Generally for studio portrait lighting they use 3 or 4 lights: Main, fill, hair/kicker, and a background light. I'd look at the strobist website, start with their lighting 101 section: http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/03/lighting-101.html and they will give you a lot of advice. If you are in a portrait set up where everything is fixed you don't need the fancy wireless auto exposure that the 430EX offers and there are cheaper models that you can just set the power were you could get 2 or 3 of them for the cost of the 430EX II
