I wish I could talk you into that new 28 f/1.8 AFS. I bought mine on a whim and I don't think I've ever had my espectations so exceeded by glass before. It really is a remarkable gem and worth every bit of the $690 selling price. Please consider saving up. That 28 f/1.8G really will make a believer out of you, I think.

It's not small but it is very light weight. Amazingly so. When I pulled it out of the box, the weight sort of dismayed me initially. I thought anything so light had to be cheaply made and probably won't do well optically. Like I said, the lens has exceeded my every expectation and then some. It has beautiful micro contrast and is wonderfully sharp on my D800. It has that crystal clear Nikon pro-glass 3D look to the images when you do your part.
