Sony are selling as many A99's as they would want to sell.

And they are charging near full recommended price for them.

The alternative is that Sony go the same direction as Nikon and Canon, who have slashed prices by a massive degree in order to shift boxes. They simply have to sell in volume, or they will find themselves getting into trouble. Besides, Nikon and Canon are hoping that if they slash the price of camera bodies, they hopefully get to sell more lenses.

The A99 has not come down in price much. Certainly not enough for my liking.

The laws of supply and demand are in action here. The price of the A99 is high because demand sits relatively well with Sony's chosen levels of production.

If they choose to make more A99's, or demand slackens, then prices will fall.

I think , personally, the A99 is selling perfectly well enough.

I also think people should stop obsessing with comparing with Canikon.

Hard to not compare when all these company are selling virtually the same tool... Just saying, why would I not compare when everyone out there is comparing (aka, dpreview, dxo mark, and every other big photography website out there).
