On the same line, you may want to check your pictures and try to estimate in which part of the zoom range are your pictures. For example, if they are mainly below 300mm, other lenses like the Sigma 100-300 f4 will give you 1 extra stop (but no IS). The 70-200mm f2.8 +1.4x tele might also work.

But if you are mainly at 400mm, you will have to go for something bigger/faster, like 400mm f2.8.

As Yngve said, low iso and telephoto are not a lightweight combination.
