Third Party Flash....

I recommend Metz

I have the 48AF-1, but the newer 50 or even the 52AF-1 would be worth the expense.

Build quality is excellent. At least the equal to Canon or Nikon. Metz supply Leica with Leica-branded flashguns. I used to have a Canon 430ex but switched to Metz when I changed camera systems as, at the time, they were the only 3rd party manufacturer to offer flashguns in that price range with 100% compatibility.

The only caveat I would add is that Metz tend to be a bit cheaper here in Europe. Conversely, Canon (and other Japanese stuff) is cheaper in the US.

Whatever flash you get, be sure to buy Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries. They really do hold their charges for months on end. Very useful for a flashgun that may not get used on a regular basis.
