I went with the f/4L IS.  Don't really shoot lowlight events, and primarily use my 70-200 f/4L IS outdoors.  It's my go-to lens for shooting my grandkids outdoors (use fast primes indoors), and I've been very happy with it.  (BTW, I shoot a 5D3, but don't see that as making any difference for purposes of this discussion.)
