The no lens hood epidemic

Not the best idea, should you use the lens outdoors in icy or snowy conditions, or on/near water surfaces, where reflecting light from below can be intense, especially in sunny weather.

To the discussion above; hoods are initially made for preventing flare, but they do work well against rain and lens scratching as well. Pretty obvious, I'd say. Why argue?

Moreover, a hood should definitely be delivered along w/ any decent lens!
