Where's this obsession about speed coming from? With the current rate of sensor advancement, a 1/5.6 f-stop will soon become a 1/4 or even 1/2.8 in terms what ISO you need for successful shooting. I understand people are also after shallow depth of field, but that surely doesn't matter for a 300mm range?

I wish the companies focused more on smaller and cheaper lenses. If I'm ok with a 3.5-5.6 zoom on a E-PL2, then I could use a 4.9-7.9 zoom on a E-PL5 (assuming a 1ev ISO edge of the new sensor). Of course I'd still have prime lenses whenever shallow DoF is needed.
