I have attended more than 60 airshows in the last 30 years and shot them with everything from 120 format SLRs, Nikons, Canons, and even a 4x5... but I have to say unless you're going up with one of the air acts, your kit right now is pretty good.  But several other air show photogs I know agree that the cheapie 55-250 EF-S IS is RAZOR sharp, lightweight (tug that around for seven hours in 90 deg heat) and excellent IQ ... as we say... it's the perfect airshow lens.  But your 70-300 should be nice as well and given you're using a crop sensor body it offers more reach.
