Is the 24-105 any good on a crop sensor?

Re: Is the 24-105 any good on a crop sensor?

I find myself in the same delimma. I have the Tamron 17-50 non-vc and Canon 70-200 f4.  The Tamron stays on the camera most of the time.  The 70-200 was purchased as my hiking / wildlife lens.  I don't see myself busting out this lens at my childs school play. (maybe that's a mistake?)  For me, this is where I see the 24-105 feeling a need - when I want more reach than the 17-50 provides, but don't want the bulk of the 70-200.

While there is overlap in adding a 24-105 to my line up, I feel this lens may serve better as my second walk around lens given its double the range on the long end, only sacrifices a little on the wide end, has the same f stop as my Canon and its overall size is smaller than my Canon.  However, I don't see this lens ever replacing my 70-200L!

Just my thoughts.
