I too came from using SLR and DSLR and had problems adjusting to a point and shoot like your RX100, I use a smaller sensor HX30 but the adjustments are similar.

It take practice and concentration using the LCD.  I would have set the shutter on multiple shots for a parade and/or moving objects. That helps.

I also got a 'clearvision' attachment to see the LCD.  It's especially good for the long zoom of my camera.

Bottom line is practice, practice.  You have a good camera, it has different needs to use it well.
